Covid Announcement- Business as normal

Hope Thrift Store

Welcome to Hope Thrift Store a social enterprise project with a heart for Teen Challenge Tasmania. We are serious about self-sustainability as a charity so all funds raised through this store go to our Youth programs - Connections Mentoring (Primary and Secondary at-risk students) and #NotEvenOnce Drug Education Projects.

The Thrift store located at 90 St John Street in Launceston is modeled to be between a traditional op shop and a vintage re-seller with a Fancy Dress/Party twist. We have a focus on reducing landfill by encouraging recycling and re-purposing goods. Quality of goods and clothing is prime importance delivered at a sensible price.

The most important aspect however is the heart behind this project and that is to provide real-life retail training, experience and mentoring young people through this welcoming environment no matter what challenges they are facing, just believing in them and letting them have a go.

Hope Thrift is fun and welcoming, so come and check it out for yourself and support this important work.

We cater for Men, women and kids. Although product changes almost daily we carry clothing, accessories, footwear, bags, books, toys and homewares.

Clothing Donations

We are absolutely blown away with the generosity of so many local people supporting this project by donating good quality clothing and goods in our commencement.

If you would like to support the project theres a few ways you can help:

  • Donation of good quality clothing, handbags, shoes, accessories, books, jewellery, linen and homewares. (Please help us reduce landfill and costs by asking yourself this question of an item you are looking to donate - would I sell this to a friend? if the answer is yes then please donate) - We can collect from your home in the Launceston Area

  • Volunteering - we need help within the store and project sorting clothing, cleaning, washing clothing, displays, collecting donations, photography, social media and much more

  • Spreading the word about Hope Thrift will be a big help. Check out our facebook page like and share the page. Speak to family and friends about doing a wardrobe clean out to donate.

  • Come and check out the store, enjoy your time looking through all the awesome new wardrobe options and your purchases will help young people.

To do what we do and raise the optimal funds its no secret we need volunteers. If you love fashion, fun, meeting awesome customers, retail environment and making a difference in young peoples lives then feel free to come see us or ask for an application form.

All volunteers must have a Working with Vulnerable Peoples Card and National Police Clearance.

The store is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and so there’s plenty of opportunities and shifts that can suit you timetable. So if you’ve got a couple of hours or even a couple of days and a heart to make a difference please pop into the store or email:
